Verify Your Broadband Mapping Data

Having led successful verification efforts in the first round of broadband mapping in Louisiana and Kentucky, Broadband Market Analysis is making our proven verification services available to other states and their designated mapping entities.

In states around the country, efforts are underway to map broadband availability and speeds down to the Census Block level and, in some areas, for individual Street Segments. All such projects are required to include independent data collection and analysis to verify the broadband availability and speed data provided by broadband service providers.

Initially the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) provided federal funding to support an initial round of data collection and mapping, followed by three six month updates. Recently NTIA announced that funding would be available to support broadband mapping updates for up to five years.

Working with our partners Strategic Network Group, and the project's prime contractor Michael Baker Corp., BMA founder Mitch Shapiro led the verification effort in Kentucky and Louisiana, with BMA staff having primary responsibility for gathering and analyzing verification data.

The verification effort integrated data from multiple sources, including our own proprietary databases, data acquired from InfoGroup, a leading supplier of electronic and physical address lists, end-user surveys conducted by SNG, and targeted web- and phone-based primary research. Leveraging our in-depth knowledge of broadband industry standard practices and network architectures, our multi-source methodology delivered comprehensive and well-documented Block-level and Street Segment-level verification datasets for the Kentucky and Louisiana projects.
