Broadband Markets' founder, Mitchell Shapiro, has been tracking and analyzing the broadband industry since the mid-1980s, when he conducted pioneering studies on the impacts of the AT&T divestiture and the dynamics of narrowcasting.

Since those early days of deregulation and channel expansion, Shapiro has continued to work at the leading edge of broadband developments, as an independent consultant and a senior analyst with firms such as Paul Kagan Associates, Probe Research and Pangrac & Associates. He has also authored numerous articles and reports covering the broadband industry.

Shortly after passage of the 1996 Telecommunications Act, Shapiro authored a groundbreaking 375-page study entitled Superhighway Scenarios: An Analysis of Full Competition in the Local Loop. The report won praise as the most comprehensive and forward-looking analysis of broadband markets in the post-legislation competitive era.

Shapiro founded Broadband Markets to continue helping clients foresee the impacts of emerging trends and navigate a course to success in the uncharted waters of broadband competition.
